Take The Stage

Tara paced the backstage, unaware her name had been called twice through the loud megaphone at the other side of the famous red curtain, she was in a deep state of anxiety, making it as far as backstage was breakthrough for her, she was about to plunge into something she felt she wasn't, she sank into an old make-up chair, and finally broke into tears.
She was a great singer, and Mathew, her best friend had always known this, they were as close as glued together, and sometimes he often wished they could be more, he knew her stories, her thoughts, her strenghts, her weaknesses, her fears, everything, and he also knew that at a time like this when she was facing one of her greatest fears, he could be the only one to help out.
Tara didn't notice Mathew behind her, but when she heard his voice she felt relief that he was there.
"Mat I'm scared, all those people, I don't think I can do this, I..."
"shhhhh!" he interrupted, that only makes things worse, don't tell your mind what your fears are asking you to, now listen, you're a great singer, and you'll do twice better than you've always done back home, the production dumped thousands of applications and picked yours, means you're better than so many ...."
"I know Mat, I know, but that's not it, I just don't think i can face that crowd, theres over a hundred thousand people out there, i don't think I can take the stage"
"yes you can Tara, yes you can, you've always been great, you can either choose to remember this day as the day you became a star, or the day you decide to keep sinking into the earth, so don't let that fear deter you from your goal, i know you've always dreamt of this, I believe in you, and its high time you started believing in yourself, you're great, don't care what people have to say, they'll always remain critics, I'll be sitting high up, just look for the guy with the big blue banner with Tara written on it, you can look at me all through".
The Hostess had called her onstage the fourth time now. she turned and looked at Mat, she looked more confident than she did a minute ago, she would always remember him say "Tara take the stage".

*don't tell your mind what your fear is asking you to, it makes things worse
*don't let your fear deter you from your Goal.
*the value of friends can never be overemphasised

Beyond stage fright, there are a numerous amount of things that often have the power to hinder us from showing or growing great potentials, but how can we expect to win if we never try, fear is a constant factor, that affects our phsycology, but who says we must give in. we'll always have ourselves to blame if we let it fool us.
I'm new to the world of blogging, i love to share stuff, but I've not always been an outspoken person, well hey, here's me, taking the stage. -Dkenny(Dolapo)
